Join us for Songsim, a performance  of traditional African drumming and dance Saturday evening, May 18, and Sunday afternoon, May 19, to benefit the Tiyumba Youth Development & Cultural Center in Tamale, Ghana.

 

Master Drummer and Choreographer Fatawu Sayibu from Tamale, Ghana, leads the performance, bringing stories, traditions and the spirit of African drumming and dance to Minnesota. Fatawu is founder and director of Tiyumba African Drum & Dance Company and the Tiyumba Youth Development & Cultural Center in Tamale. The center supports children and teens in Ghana through formal education and cultural activities such as stories, drumming and dance. We are thrilled to bring this performance of Songsim to our Minneapolis community to support the expansion of the Tiyumba Youth Development & Cultural Center.
